Tron: Ares Release Date and What to Expect

I’ve written previously about how the original 1982 Tron movie from Disney inspired me to pursue a career in technology. Like many others, I patiently waited 28 years for Disney to get the idea to release a sequel, Tron: Legacy. It’s been another 15 years and countless relationships for Oliva Wilde. We may never learn what happened to Sam and Quora, but it looks like we’ll learn what happened to Jeff Bridges, aka Kevin Flynn, when Tron: Ares is released later this year on October 10, 2025.

Tron: Ares became available for digital rental and purchase on December 2, 2025. It will begin streaming on Disney+ on January 7, 2026.

Tron was my gateway to the incredible music of Wendy Carlos, who was a pioneer combining electronic music with a full orchestra. Years later, Tron: Legacy impressed me with Daft Punk’s genius soundtrack—a perfect fit for the digital world. I’ve never been a huge Nine Inch Nails fan, but judging by all the “red” in the Tron: Ares trailer, Trent Reznor seems poised to deliver the right mood for this next installment in the Tron mythology.

Are you looking forward to Tron: Ares?
