Where Can I Find the SAP BusinessObjects Release Notes?

Last month— March 17, 2026, to be precise— SAP released patch 9 for SAP BusinessObjects BI 2025. Whenever SAP releases a new patch of SAP BusinessObjects, I always review the release notes first so I can understand what issues have been corrected between the version I’m currently using and the one I hope to upgrade to. Documentation generally takes a couple of days to appear after the software is available, so there’s generally a gap between downloading and installing new software. And for the SAP BusinessObjects Release Notes, there’s actually two distinct locations each with their own distinct release notes document link.

SAP Help Portal

The first place to look for release notes or any other documentation is the SAP Help Portal. Simply look for the SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform and choose your version.

SAP Community

The second place that release notes can be found is the SAP BusinessObjects BI Maintenance site on the SAP Community. Just look for “Release Notes” under the “Patches Information”.

Check the Version

The exact patch level is not embedded in the file name, so if you prefer to archive each version of the document, you will want to adjust the file name to include that information. Also, check the cover page and the document header to make sure the document has been updated for the patch level you wish to install.

It typically takes a few days after the software has been uploaded to the SAP Support Portal for the documentation to match. And because these are two separate sites, you may find that one site has been updated but the other hasn’t.

I’m pleased to report that both sites already have updated release notes for BI 2025 SP0 Patch 9, just a day after the software was posted. This surprise is likely a result of a severe clustering issue that was introduced in 4.3 SP5 Patch 400 / BI 2025 Patch 800, as described in SAP KB 3724948.

I’ve already applied the new BI 2025 patch to our internal testing landscapes.

Unfortunately, SAP BI 4.3 SP5 Patch 5 was released on March 28, 2026—over one week ago. But neither location has uploaded release notes. Take your pick of patch 3 on the SAP Help Portal or patch 4 on the SAP Community site. Thankfully, SAP KB 3724948 has been updated to indicate that SP5 Patch 5 indeed corrects the clustering issue. But an updated release notes document would help organizations still using BI 4.3 evaluate what else has been corrected in SP5 patch 5.

I hope that SAP will recognize the inconvenience imposed on its BusinessObjects administrators when there is a sizable gap between software delivery and release notes. And adjust its internal processes accordingly.

How does your team utilize SAP’s release notes?
