Where Can I Find the SAP Product Availability Matrix (PAM)?

The SAP Product Availability Matrix, or PAM, is a website that contains both product lifecycle information and the supported platforms (browsers, databases, operating systems) for that product. You can find the PAM welcome page in the Maintenance area of SAP’s website but access to the PAM itself requires an S-ID.

The PAM keeps track of release types, maintenance durations, planned availability, and upgrade paths. Regarding SAP BusinessObjects, there’s metadata going all the way back to SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1, which was the first version of BusinessObjects released after the company was acquired by SAP. That version became generally available on September 30, 2008. You can trace the versions from XI 3.1 through all the current and announced products: BI 4.3, BI 2025, BI 2027, and BI 2029.

The PAM is also where you’ll find the Supported Platforms document, which is the definitive source for supported OS, database, browser, and platform combinations. It answers questions like:

• How to Check Supported Operating Systems for SAP BusinessObjects BI 2025?

• Is Microsoft SQL Server 2025 supported for the SAP BusinessObjects BI 2025 CMS/Audit database? (Answer: NO)

The Supported Platforms document is generally updated when new support packs are introduced. But there’s little fanfare regarding updates, so it’s always good to grab the latest version when planning an upgrade. I like to add the release date to the filename, which helps me maintain multiple supported platforms documents.

The Platform Availability Matrix is just as valuable as the SAP Help Portal (https://help.sap.com) or the SAP Support Portal (https://me.sap.com or https://support.sap.com/) but it can be difficult to find without a bookmark or a Google search.

The PAM URL is difficult to remember. SAP and Me already has shortcuts like https://me.sap.com/calendar (Calendar) and https://me.sap.com/softwarecenter. They are easy to remember and sometimes it’s easier to change the URL in the browser location menu/browser history than look for a tile.
