SAP Security Patch Day – August 2026

Most BusinessObjects administrators plan their upgrades around either new features or bugs. But don’t forget to keep an eye out for security vulnerabilities. SAP disclosed three new vulnerabilities to BusinessObjects in their August 2026 security note. Check out the specifics on Speak BO.

Keep Calm and Localize Your Reports

I’ve written before about @Variables – see Using @Variable Functions in the Universe and Identifying SAP BusinessObjects queries using END_SQL. Since that time, SAP added a couple for user locale. As a nod to Ted Lasso, I show how the @VARIABLE(‘PREFERRED_VIEWING_LOCALE’) and @VARIABLE(‘DOMINANT_PREFERRED_VIEWING_LOCALE’) can be used to report different values for American and British Web Intelligence users. Check out Keep Calm and Localize Your Reports (or should that have been localise?).

New Excel Option in BI 4.3 SP5 and BI 2025

SAP has introduced a third option for scheduling Web Intelligence reports to Excel, known as “Remove all formatting for easier data processing in Excel“. As a bonus, they’ve added the feature to the BI 4.3 platform (with mainstream maintenance ending at the end of 2026) and BI 2025.
